Financial Analyst

Bethesda, MD

Reporting to the Director of Finance the Financial Analyst will be responsible for the monthly general ledger accounting & payroll functions and regular financial reporting.


Responsibilities:

Accounting:

  • Gather, analyze and interpret data for use in management decision-making process
  • Review, compile and formalize accounting procedures; manage accounting policy manual
  • Review and standardize internal financial reporting
  • Assist Controller with monthly/quarterly/Year End Close processes
  • Assist Controller with financial statement preparation
  • Perform currency exchange calculations; track and analyze international financial transactions
  • Administer fixed asset and equipment lease records
  • Assist in the development of accounting systems, methods, procedures, and controls


Payroll:

  • Process semi-monthly payroll


Purchasing Management:

  • Analyze costs related to purchases


Accounts Payable Management:

  • Review accounts payable transactions
  • Assist Accounts Payable in prioritizing payment of vendor invoices
  • Perform monthly, quarterly and annual expense analysis


Accounts Receivable/Contracts Management:

  • Create and maintain standard financial terms used in sales contracts
  • Develop and maintain approval sign-off process for variances from standard terms


Annual Audit:

  • Prepare documentation for annual outside audit
  • Perform analysis of key accounts for the balance sheet and the income statement
  • Prepare reconciliations of key accounts

Requirements:

  • Proficient in MS Office suite and MS Exchange
  • Strong oral and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Must have working knowledge of QuickBooks
  • 7-10 years directly related work experience – to include AP, AR, Payroll, General Ledger
  • Ability to multi-task, respond to challenges with creativity, flexibility, and work well in a team environment

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in business, finance or accounting or equivalent experience

Supervision:

  • Be able to work independently
  • Lead individual team members as needed
  • Be able recognize limits and know when to ask for assistance
